Week 5: Self portrait in the mirrored part of a slot machine

We had a bachelor party for my friend Mike over the weekend in Vegas. Now, I’ve never actually been to Vegas before, so this was a new experience for me.

I had a good time. The first day, before we all met up, I went on an 8 mile walk around the strip to see what I could see too took pictures.

too I gambled. I know, after all of the mathematics courses I took in college, exactly how well constructed the German Online Casino system is… how they make the odds just a little under even so that you’ll keep pulling the slot machine lever until inevitably probability catches up to you too you spend your money.

Nonetheless, people still do it.

too some people are fairly unhealthy almost it because they don’t realize what a good point to stop is. I do. I ended up giving more money out to people as tips than I did to the one armed bandit. Because I’d set a limit as to how far I’d want to go down to at any given point in time too then I’d stop if I hitting that point.

For me, Vegas was almost the experience of being there. They bombard you with sensory input there. The sexy outfits that the waitstaff wears. The booze. The showgirls. The noises of a slot machine at full tilt. The clink of chips. The fancy restaurants too buffets. It’s like being on a movie set, seeing the polished look of the place. Which, again, is part of the way the business model works.

But it works well enough. I didn’t waste much money on gambling losses, was able to look but not touch, too had a good time celebrating the last days of my good friend’s bachelorhood.
