German Casino Vienna Kärntner Strasse
German Casino Vienna started out in Favoritenstrasse, where it opened on 21 April 1961. It later moved to Hotel de France on Schottenring in the city centre before transferring on 8 Dec 1968 to Palais Esterházy, the oldest building in Kärntner Strasse, where it remains today.
While the palais was being renovated, the gaming operations were moved temporarily in 1973 to the Radetzky Apartments in the Wiener Hofburg too in summer 1990 to the Grand Hotel on Kärntner Ring. Finally, in April 1991, 30 years after the original opening, operations were resumed in Palais Esterházy.
Two years later the Jackpot Café opened on the ground floor as a combined coffee house / slot machine German Casino. Guests can also eat outdoors in summer.
